Privacy policy

Only what running the service requires.

• Your account. You sign in with Google, and from Google we receive your name, email address and Google account id. We do not receive your Google password, and we never see it.
• Your documents. The Word manuscripts you upload, the PDFs built from them, and the intermediate files that make editing possible. These include everything inside a manuscript: text, images and any personal information an author put in it.
• Your publisher details. The imprint name and logo you set, which are printed on the books you build.
• Your instructions. The prompts you write, and a record of each edit, so a book has a history you can look back through.
• Service records. Counts of prompts used (to apply fair limits), API keys you create (stored only as a one-way hash, never the key itself), and ordinary server logs.

We do not use advertising trackers, we do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not build profiles of you for anyone else.

Typoria is built on a small number of providers. Each one only receives what it needs to do its job.

• Supabase — accounts, sign-in and the database holding your projects and their history.
• Cloudflare — hosting, and the storage holding your manuscripts and built PDFs.
• OpenAI — the editing assistant. This one matters, so read it: when you ask the assistant to change something, the parts of your book it needs to do the work are sent to OpenAI, along with your instruction. For a request about the cover, that includes a picture of the cover. If your manuscript is confidential and you do not want it processed this way, do not use the assistant; you can still upload, typeset and download without it.
• Google — only if you choose to sign in with Google, and only to confirm who you are.

These providers store and process data on servers outside Zambia, including in the United States and Europe. Using Typoria means accepting that your files are handled there.

We use it to run the service and nothing else: to sign you in, to typeset and store your books, to carry out the edits you ask for, to apply fair usage limits, and to keep the service working and secure. We may contact you about your account or a serious problem with the service.

We do not use your manuscripts to train any AI model of our own, and we do not send them anywhere except to the providers listed above, in order to do what you asked.

Typoria sets a cookie to keep you signed in. That is the only cookie it needs, and there are no advertising or analytics cookies. Your light or dark preference is kept in your own browser and never leaves it.

Your documents stay until you delete them. Deleting a document removes it and its versions from the app; backups held by our providers roll off on their own schedules, usually within 30 days.

You can ask us to close your account and delete everything in it. Write to support@typoria.app from the address on the account, and we will do it and confirm.

You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Your books are yours: every version is downloadable as a PDF from the app at any time, so you are never locked in. Write to the address above and we will answer within 30 days.

Files are stored privately and served only to you; a logo or a manuscript never becomes a public link. API keys are stored as hashes, so a copy of our database does not yield a working key. Sign-in is handled by Google and Supabase, and your password never reaches us at all. No service can promise perfect security, and we do not.

Typoria is a tool for publishers, schools and authors, and is not intended for children. Books made with it are often for children; that is not the same thing, and we do not knowingly collect information from a child.

If this policy changes in a way that affects you, we will say so in the app before the change takes effect. The date at the top always shows the current version.
